Twitter is removing face-swapped AI porn from its platform, too

There's nothing especially new about the sort of doctored images where a popular celebrity's face is stitched onto a nude body.

While PornHub, Twitter and others are attempting to bring deepfakes to a premature climax, we suspect the trend will leave a splash on the porn world that won't be easily swallowed. Motherboard first started reporting on deepfakes back in December, work which seems to have directly impacted policies coming out of Twitter and Reddit this week. That site puts deepfakes in the same category as revenge porn.

Reddit strives to be a welcoming, open platform for all by trusting our users to maintain an environment that cultivates genuine conversation.

"

"We do not tolerate any nonconsensual content and we remove all said content as soon as we are made aware of it."

". These policies were previously combined in a single rule; they will now be broken out into two distinct ones. In addition, Reddit now also bans the posting of images "for the specific goal of faking explicit content or soliciting "lookalike" pornography", according to its updated rules.

TWITTER'S TUGGING OFF accounts from its social network that post faked porn videos of celebrities by suspending profiles making use of "deepfakes".

"We will suspend any account we identify as the original poster of intimate media that has been produced or distributed without the subject's consent", a Twitter spokesperson told Motherboard. As we saw with Gfycat and PornHub, an official ban and a few suspended accounts could be enough to send celebrity porn producers to a website with looser rules. If one website bans them, they will simply be uploaded elsewhere.
