Use Google Photos to create a ideal Valentine's Day video

08 February 2018

Google has been delivering cute, adorable, themed movies based on your photos for a while now.

Ahead of Valentine's Day, Google on Thursday rolled out a new feature on Google Photos that allows users to create and share personalised videos.

The update is available for both Android and iOS, as well as on the web.

With a range of themes, from "They Grow Up So Fast" to the feline favorite "Meow Movie", it is the flawless way to celebrate all your favorite people, furry friends, and treasured moments. Other themed movie options include things like "Father's Day Movie", "In Loving Memory", "Selfie Movie", "Smiles of 2017", "Doggie Movie", "Meow Movie", "Mother's Day Movie", and more. Partners and lovers can take on a movie-making project with active help from Google.

The feature is also available for desktop users. We'll use machine learning to select photos based on your choices, add a soundtrack and produce a custom movie just for you. After you've chosen your theme and the people (or pets) who will star in the movie, you're ready to go. Before sharing the special movie to the world, users have the option to do some edits or tweaks en route to the final cut of the film.

App Preview Messaging is part of an API in Google Play services that can be used to let recipients of a video or photo preview the item even though they may not have the native application used to send the item installed on their device.

The same type of functionality appears to be getting a test in Google Photos as sources have reported getting notifications that an item in Google Photos has been shared with them from another user.
