Black Panther Promo Calls Out All of MCU's Nods to Wakanda

09 February 2018

One of the most hotly-anticipated films of the year, 'Black Panther', is set to arrive in cinemas next week and if its Rotten Tomatoes score is anything to go by, cinema-goers are in for a treat.

To celebrate the launch of "Black Panther", Avengers Infinity War: Part One" and "Ant Man and the Wasp', ODEON are offering the ultimate collectables gift, the Marvel Ultimate Ticket.

USA Today said that along with the fantastical elements of the film and its James Bond-style spycraft, "Black Panther" was extremely grounded "dealing with the consequences of age-old colonialism and exploring isolation at a time when actual countries are building borders rather than breaking them down". In addition to having to prove his worth to factions at home, the new king must keep his country's secret under wraps: The rest of the planet thinks Wakanda is third world, but thanks to being rich in the otherworldly metal vibranium, it's actually decades beyond everybody else, with hover ships and various mind-blowing innovations. "The only difference between a hero and a villain is that the villain chooses to use that power in a way that is selfish and hurts other people". There's no guarantee it will stay that way, with dozens more critics expected to have their say over the next week or so, but T'Challa and the Wakandans are off to the best possible start.

But this superb cast doesn't have a weak link.

Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman and Andy Serki were also there.

Wakanda happens to have a place where the living and the dead can communicate freely. Brought to awe-inspiring life by production designer Hannah Beachler, Black Panther's vision of a technologically advanced African nation untouched by white colonialists is both beautifully rendered and stunningly detailed. "It's hard for a good man to be king", his father tells him.

Let's not wait too long for a return trip.
