After being eased past 3-1 by Everton, Palace then were unlucky to lost 1-0 to Spurs and caused some problems for Man Utd last time out, before ultimately suffering a 3-2 loss.

Roy Hodgson has done a commendable job considering the club had failed to record a single win or goal when he was hired, but injuries to a number of key players have made life hard for the former England manager.

Here, Chelsea trampled all over their London rivals throughout the first-half and by the break the game was over, allowing Antonio Conte to start resting his stars as he turned his attention to Wednesday's (March 14) crucial trip to Barcelona.

Chelsea now sits fifth in the Premier League, five points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who occupy the final spot for next year's European competition. It's a fight for survival. Without Zaha, they are clearly also much less of a force going forward. When you play against City there is the possibility to lose the game.

In the league, the Blues are placed fifth in the league table with 53 points. "To see them in this position in the table is a bit odd".

On paper, Crystal Palace are better equipped to tackle the challenge, which admittedly looks increasingly ominous by the day. "We have to do that to help out league position and for our confidence at the start of a huge week". However, Palace have scored in each of their last six away games, and we think that they will score on Saturday. Timothy Fosu-Mensah is back in contention after being ineligible to face his parent club, Manchester United. They are expected to be without the likes of Connor Wickham, Scott Dann, Jason Puncheon, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Bakary Sako, Julian Speroni and Mamadou Sakho.

"JT's role last season was incredible". His presence in the middle of the park ensures that Chelsea's creative forwards will enjoy more freedom in possession than they are used to.

Palace wilted as Chelsea surged, and seven minutes later an attack that flowed from flank to flank yielded their second.

Conte, however, highlighted the threat of Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke ahead of Chelsea clash with Palace in the Premier League on Saturday evening at Stamford Bridge.

A week after their limp surrender at the Etihad, Chelsea reminded Conte how convincing they can be when they play with goal on the front foot, even if Barcelona are more than capable of making them pay for the level of ambition they showed against Palace. He's been poor for a prolonged period now and is not performing at the level at which is required.
