Cowboys' David Irving being investigated by Frisco PD

25 April 2018

Police in a Dallas suburb are investigating a domestic violence complaint against Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving from a woman who later recanted.

"Excuse the posts", Irving wrote on Facebook. I had no intentions of getting David into trouble, I was just very emotional and upset. "I would like to be clear, although our relationship is not flawless, we love one another and David did not put his hands on me at any time".

While Irving was at Iowa State, where he played college ball, he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, who is the mother of their daughter.

Frisco (TX) police took the girlfriend's allegations seriously enough to launch an investigation, which will likely continue despite the woman's retraction. The allegations were reported yesterday at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.by his girlfriend, according to police.

Irving has claimed she freaked out after he dumped her for cheating on him.

Rotello said police were investigating her allegation anyway.

A Cowboys team spokesman told WFAA in an email at 3:16 p.m. that the organization did not have an official statement on the matter.

This isn't the first time Irving has faced a criminal complaint. That charge was dropped in January 2014.

Irving, a restricted free agent, signed a $2.91 million, one-year contract with the Cowboys last week after his breakout performance during the 2017 season. That led to his release from the Iowa State Cyclones.

Irving was limited to eight games this year because of injuries and a suspension for PEDs, but was incredible while on the field.

Irving missed four more games to end the season after suffering a concussion against the Redskins on November 30. Irving has not been arrested nor charged.

Cowboys Wire has reached out to a representative of Irving and will update the article with any statement they make available to the public.
