DOOM Eternal gameplay reveal: Here's how to watch

11 August 2018

"Killing bad-ass demons with big guns in unbelievable places".

Bethesda revealed the first gameplay footage from DOOM Eternal - their highly-anticipated sequel to 2016's reboot of the iconic first-person shooter franchise - during their keynote address at QuakeCon 2018 today (August 10th).

To achieve that goal, Id Software started with a very simple goal - make the Doomslayer the strongest and most powerful hero the studio has ever created. The DOOM Eternal gameplay will be live-streamed for every one of you who can not make it to the main event. Martin and Stratton shared some concept illustrations showcasing the Doomslayer's new armor. These include the Ballista, which fires an exploding bolt into enemies, and the Super Shotgun, which comes with a blade called the "Meat Hook" attached to the barrels. Anyone familiar with the gaming series knows about the ultra-violence DOOM brings forth, but DOOM Eternal looks like the most vicious and bloodthirsty installment to-date. Wow, ok, well. Doom Eternal has the ideal new feature for you: Invasions!

In a game design twist that riffs on the likes of Demon's Souls, the developers said you can take control of a demon and invade other player's games. Players can even team up as demons to form a Slayer hunting party. Id hasn't said whether Doom Eternal will have a traditional multiplayer mode like Doom 2016 did, but honestly, this sounds a lot better.

Yu can watch some of the Doom Eternal gameplay above, and the game itself will be releasing apparently on December 28 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
