Boy thrown from Mall of America balcony hospitalized

14 April 2019

A witness at the Bloomington mall told WCCO that a woman was screaming that someone threw her child from the third-floor balcony.

In July 2015, he was arrested at the Mall of America on three misdemeanor charges - property damage, disorderly conduct and interfering with a peace officer - after police say Aranda threw items from the upper level of the mall to the lower level. "We started this GoFundMe for their family to help cover the huge medical costs and rehabilitation costs for the long ahead". "Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge,"' Brian Johnson told WCCO. He was charged in two previous incidents at the mall in 2015.

Friends of the family began a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign for Landen, who is described as "the sweetest, kindest 5-year-old you will ever meet".

Hanneman said his picture has been removed from the page because there have been "multiple people trying to copy this GoFundMe page and the family is still requesting privacy and has elected at this point not to share photos at this time"'.

'The child did suffer significant injuries, ' he said.

Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda has been charged with attacking a 5-year-old boy at the Mall of America Friday. The charges state he threw a drinking glass at a customer at Twin City Grill in the Mall of America.

"At this time we do not believe there is a relationship between the suspect and the child or the family of the child, and we are actively investigating as to why this incident occurred", Potts said at a briefing just outside the mall.

The 4.2-million-square-foot Mall of America is in Bloomington, about 10 miles south of Minneapolis. "The family and this child are in our thoughts and prayers, and I know the family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers that they can get from the they hope for a full recovery of their child".

Despite the incident, Potts thinks the mall is still a safe place. Our immediate and only concern is for the wellbeing of the family and the child, as well as for any individuals who may have witnessed the incident.

'We have counseling services available for anyone who may need assistance.

The suspect has a history with the mall and was previously banned, court records show. He had also swept his hand across a display table at the beauty store Bare Minerals, breaking lip gloss containers and shot glasses, police said. As part of his probation for the assault in the restaurant, he was barred from visiting the Mall of America until December 29, 2017.
