Solskjaer: The memory of the PSG comeback will help Man United's players

16 April 2019

Barcelona will be at full strength as they welcome Manchester United to the Nou Camp for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

"We need to defend well and we need to score".

"Manchester United have won three of four [Champions League] away games this season, and we have to be careful".

"Barca here at the Nou Camp is a hard prospect but that night will live with the players".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been boosted by the return of Matic as the Serbian global has travelled to Spain after recovering from an illness that's kept him out of Man Utd's last three matches.

'It's against the best club of the last 10 or 15 years. "He has been injured and has not had a fantastic season so far so let's hope that he can end it well because we're at the business end of the season now".

"We tried to Google that".

Twenty years on from his dramatic injury-time victor in Barcelona that sealed Manchester United's Treble, Solskjaer is hoping to mastermind another comeback.

"They have qualities on the counter with [Ousmane] Dembele, who is one of the quickest [players they have], and Messi, who we know about".

The former Liverpool midfielder has been linked with a departure from the Camp Nou this summer, just 18 months after becoming the Catalan club's most expensive signing following a £142 million move.

"Alexis has been here and played here", Solskjaer said.

Ousmane Dembele started, while the likes of Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho were all given breathers with this game in mind.

Just like in the 1999 final, United are a goal down at the Camp Nou after Luke Shaw's own goal settled the first leg at Old Trafford.

Two of those games were at Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain and the one they lost in Valencia was when they were already through the group stage.

However, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may turn to him after his side failed to muster a shot on target in the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford in last week's first leg.

Alexis Sanchez was named among United's travelling contingent.

Similarly United's chance of winning the Champions League this season has reduced to around 1%.
